The Lexington Avenue Bistro by Shannon Stuntebeck

COURSE: Design Studies 322: Interior Design II

MEDIUM: Digital Illustration

The “White School House” in Spring Green, Wisconsin, presented an interesting opportunity for the design of a bistro that would offer fresh and local cuisine to residents and visitors of the small town.

From when it was built in 1887, to the late 1980’s, the small space operated as a school for the children of Spring Green. In the design for a bistro that would take over the space, the owner and I shared the vision of paying homage to all the people who had been taught there over the years, and to the character and structure of the building itself. The design is open and very functional, with distinct spaces and a warm, welcoming, comfortable atmosphere.
