The “White School House” in Spring Green, Wisconsin presented an interesting opportunity for the design of a bistro that would offer fresh and local cuisine to residents and visitors of the small town.

From when it was built in 1887, to the late 1980’s the small space operated as a school for the children of Spring Green. In the design for a bistro that would take over the space, myself and the owner shared the vision of paying homage to all the people that had been taught there over the years, and to the character and structure of the building itself. The design is open and very functional, with distinct spaces and a warm and welcoming comfortable atmosphere.
