MEDIUM: Video, Film
DESCRIPTION:
A short visual meditation on transformation, capturing the quiet metamorphosis of ice. Filmed through a single window, the work observes fleeting moments of freezing, melting, and reshaping, where time slows, and ordinary matter reveals its hidden rhythms. I created the film independently as a personal exploration of natural processes. The footage was captured using a camera donated through my research project by IdeaWild (https://ideawild.org).
ARTIST’S STATEMENT:
As a scientist and naturalist, I am drawn to the act of observing, quietly watching the world as it changes. Change is continuous, and in each stage there is a different kind of message. This work reflects my fascination with how much depth can be found in simple things. A drop of water, a shift in temperature, a moment in time, together, they create forms that are both delicate and ephemeral. By looking closely, we begin to see not only change, but also presence, structure, and quiet complexity in the ordinary. Icicles is an invitation to slow down, to notice, and to find different meanings that may resonate uniquely with each person in the subtle transformations that often go unseen.
