Gooey by Aishwarya Gouthaman

COURSE: Art 448: Coding for Graphic Design

MEDIUM: Video

DESCRIPTION:
Gooey was created using Processing, a language and development environment created by Casey Reas and Ben Fry. To analyze amplitude and beats from the .wav file. In the composition itself, I used Bezier curves to capture the organic nature of the amplitude of the music throughout the song; it rotates and changes shape based on the music. The flower constructed of flowers represents the beats through the song.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT:
Gooey is the visualization of the song of the same name by Glass Animals. It combines the aesthetics of the song into a visual and tangible experience. The changing, rotating strokes move from the center, reacting to music in a sort of interpretative dance, while the circles change color based on the beat of the song. It showcases how various layers of the sound come together to create a song that we enjoy.
