DESCRIPTION:
Collage using Photoshop – showing how the Grim Reaper has job security in that he will have nothing to do as long as people stay addicted.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT:
I think that my generation, in particular, has done a great job in stopping smoking, but e-cigarettes and vaping really took over as a replacement; in the spray-painted background, I added a Juul to the stick figure with the heart balloon. A bit ironic in that the Grim Reaper is also smoking, but he’s meant to come out of the picture. Same with the digital broken heart balloon – it’s supposed to mimic the spray-painted one the child is holding.
