COURSE: ART 448: Coding for Graphic Design
MEDIUM: Data Visualization; Digital Illustration
DESCRIPTION:
Sound Sphere was created using the Sound Library in Processing which is the basic programming language for artists and designers, created by Ben Fry and Casey Reas. It takes real-time sound and incorporates it into the amplitude of the circles. The louder the input sound, the larger the amplitude.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT:
Sound Sphere is a conceptual drawing that incorporates sound to explore the relationship between sound and image. I wanted to have viewer interaction incorporated into the piece by having the work react to real-time sound, creating more engagement with the audience. Audience members are able to interact with the work by making sound, therefore creating their own works of art.
