MEDIUM: Photography/Prints
DESCRIPTION:
“Rising Forms” is a curated collection of vertical images exploring the city of Madison through the intersection of man-made and natural landscapes. By focusing on both architectural and naturalistic forms, these images examine how perspective influences how we experience everyday spaces. Across environments and seasons, these photographs capture the fleeting moments—historic Tripp Hall mid-winter storm, the damp Lakeshore path after a brisk summer rain, the New Orpheum theater in the setting sun. Together, this collection of media demonstrates the balance between permanence and change across seasons, while showcasing the duality of the city.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT:
My photography focuses on capturing the intimate, everyday moments that define my life as a student at UW–Madison. Through a digital camera, I explore both the urban and natural elements of Madison. Capturing my favorite moments along the lake and the cityscape alike, along a multitude of seasons, I examine the dualism of the city and highlight the everyday beauty that is often overlooked in the hustle and bustle of a college town. My goal is to evoke a sense of unity across the various landscapes and encompass the versatility of Madison through visual media.
