COURSE: ART 448: Coding for Graphic Design

MEDIUM: Data Illustration; Data Visualization

DESCRIPTION:
Neon is a computational drawing created using Processing, an open-source programming language created by Ben Fry and Casey Reas. Neon was created with 32 lines of code.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT:
I created Neon for a class assignment. Going into the creation of Neon I knew I wanted to use bright, neon-like colors, so I made the background black in an attempt to recreate the look of neon lighting. I wanted to create something symmetrical, but not boring. I decided to reflect two different designs over the diagonal axes of my square canvas. I wanted to create something that would be a very cool physical neon sign and thought this pattern would look great hanging in a bowling alley or roller skating rink.
