COURSE: Independent
MEDIUM: Poster
DESCRIPTION:
A dissertation-related research poster presented at the Biennial History of Astronomy Workshop held at the University of Notre Dame, June 19-22, 2019.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT:
From the beginning, I planned my poster around the vibrant (Wisconsin) red parabolic arc representative of a comet passing around the Sun to help draw my audience of historians of astronomy into conversations and to provide a timeline structure on which to present my historical findings about the poster’s main subject, Father James Curley, S.J., of Georgetown College. Both design elements worked as I hoped, particularly the timeline aspect as the many small tidbits of information placed along the arc offered my visitors an easy entry into my story about Father Curley without the need to read long paragraphs of text. (Poster was created with Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.)
