COURSE: Art 618 – Advanced Video Art
This short experimental video explores the boundaries of analog and digital video. I started with a VHS of Pulp Fiction played on an old CRT television, and filmed the screen with a HD digital camera. I manipulated the video output cables to produce a distorted image on the screen. I then uploaded the video from the camera and digitally edited the sequence to further distort the image. The resulting images produce an abstract painterly quality that, when combined with distorted audio, have a dream-like effect. The overall effect is a colorful-dreamlike state that stays true to the raw medium of analog video.
