COURSE: Microbiology 345: Introduction to Disease Biology

MEDIUM: Website, Podcast, Digital Illustration, Data Visualization

DESCRIPTION:
This multimedia project explores Chagas disease—a neglected tropical disease caused by the parasite Trypanosoma cruzi—through an interdisciplinary lens that combines narrative storytelling, microbiological research, and public health perspectives. We contributed to the research and analysis of Chagas disease’s epidemiology and social impact, helping to highlight the ways it disproportionately affects under-resourced communities in Latin America and the U.S. We also collaborated on scriptwriting and audio editing to craft an engaging and informative podcast episode that balanced storytelling with scientific accuracy.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT:
This project reflects our commitment to making science communication more inclusive and community-focused, while shedding light on the complex biological and sociopolitical factors that perpetuate disease neglect.
