ARTIST’S STATEMENT:
Some might not see beauty in a location covered in concrete. But as someone who grew up surrounded by people, highways, buildings, and commotion, that was always where I found it. It wasn’t gargantuan mountains or crystal clear streams that struck me, but the ingenuity of a cityscape. The way bodies, bicycles, and cars moved with one another in perfect tune. While some may see being packed together like sardines on a bus or sitting idle in bumper-to-bumper traffic as cumbersome, it meant we all shared space – and perhaps, pain – together. I wanted to highlight the magnificence of the mundane.
