COURSE: English 100: Introduction to College Composition

MEDIUM: Audio Essay / Podcast

DESCRIPTION:
My submission is an audio essay that I was given the opportunity to create for my English 100 class. I had never done an audio essay before, so this was a new experience for me. It showcases a snippet of independence that I began to achieve while exploring the life of being a college student.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT:
I wanted this audio essay to be more than just an assignment. An audio essay is something I’ve never done before, and for the first time, I wanted to do an English assignment. I am someone who likes getting straight to the facts, so having to create something vividly isn’t something I’m used to. I chose a moment in my life that was a personal achievement. It is a snippet of a long late-night drive that lasted from the UW-Madison campus to as far as Middleton where I got to listen to “Into It” by Chase Atlantic with a few friends of mine. Coming to college gave me more independence than I was used to. I could do what I want when I wanted and whatever felt right. This audio essay kind of marks the beginning of that newly gained independence.
