PechaKucha is a presentation format consisting of 20 slides, each shown automatically for 20 seconds, and accompanied by spoken text and sound effects. At 6 min, 40 sec each, PechaKuchas present ideas in a clear, engaging, and efficient manner. PKs are usually delivered live but can also be recorded and uploaded to the web. PK nights occur at clubs and schools worldwide.

  • Maintain simplicity. Reduce your ideas to concepts that can be easily understood.
  • Maintain coherence. Be sure that your slides flow smoothly and logically.
  • Maintain a connection between what is shown and what you are saying. You don’t want the audience to be confused or distracted by dissonance.
  • Practice. You need to be sure that your presentation adheres to the per-slide time limit.
  • Be creative. The PechaKucha format is designed to foster the expression of innovative ideas and novel interpretations.
  • Engage your audience. PechaKucha are generally used in informal environments with lots of interaction among attendees. Your PechaKucha should serve to stimulate further conversation.
