Monona Terrace: Accessible Map by Charles Marleau

COURSE: Art 564: Graphic Design for Accessibility

MEDIUM: Map

DESCRIPTION:
In this work, a pocket-sized foldable map was designed for the Monona Terrace downtown. Through this map, accessibility measures were carefully thought through in terms of vision impairment. Realizing this project as a nearly completed product, design, illustration, and production processes were developed to accommodate the needs of every sort of still vision-capable person who would visit the Terrace.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT:
This project was viewed from a purely design point of view. Art played a slight factor in the choice of illustration style and color, but that was all in service of meeting the aesthetics of the Monona Terrace existing brand guidelines. My personal feelings and point of view were not a focus of this project.
